Doctoral Student Profiles

I began my PhD studies as a presidential fellow at WPI in the fall of 2020. My current research interest is in financial mathematics, specifically in portfolio optimization and risk management.

Evan is from Chelmsford, Massachusetts and graduated from Brandeis University in 2020. Before and after graduation, he did computational research on the self-assembly of bacterial microcompartments and viral capsids. He then worked in the pharmaceutical industry before deciding to continue his education at WPI, where he is now a PhD candidate. He has a passion for math and music.

Hello I am Taorui, you can also call me Mason.I am interested in teaching math and applied novel engineering methods to solve complex math problems. I like fishing and hiking.

I am Zihang Xu, the second year PhD student in statistics. My research interest will be Bayesian Statistics. I graduated from Jilin University in China and got my master in George Washington University. My major was statistics. 

I am working with Dr. Nandram on applications of Bayesian statistics to survey methodology and small area estimation, nonparametric statistics, and Bayesian computation.

I am a first year PhD student in mathematics. I am interested in applied math, particularly Numerical methods in Linear algebra and PDE. In addition, I like teaching work and hope to work in academia.

I'm a PhD student in Mathematical Sciences, my research is about Numerical Analysis, Domain Decomposition, Finite Element Methods. I'm also interested in other very interesting pure math problems. 

Wisawat has background in Mechanical Engineering (mechanics, thermal sciences and fluid engineering). He received B.Eng in 2009 from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology, Thammasat University (Thailand). He obtained a M.S. in 2012 from University of New Haven (West Haven, CT USA). In 2013, he has started his Ph.D. program also in Mechanical Engineering at WPI, and, joined the Nanomaterials and Nanomanufacturing Laboratory a year after.
