LGBTQIAP+ Advocacy Trainings and Education
The Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education (ODIME) regularly offers LGBTQIAP+ Advocacy Training opportunities, open to students, faculty, and staff of WPI.
LGBTQIAP+ Advocacy 101 Training
The 101 training will cover topics such as gender identity, using pronouns, and the state of LGBTQIAP+ community in the world and at WPI. We will also discuss the steps and skills of advocacy and bystander intervention.
LGBTQIAP+ Advocacy 201 Training
The 201 Training will cover topics such as LGBTQIAP+ history, the colonization of gender, and queer liberation. Participants are encouraged to either attend the 101 training or have solid foundational knowledge before attending the 201 training.
Scheduled Trainings
The 101 and 201 trainings will be offered each term. Registration is recommended via myWPI.
101: Learn about identities, pronouns, and how to advocate for your students, friends, and colleagues.
C-Term: Tuesday, January 28, 2025; 11:00am-12:30pm ET
Zoom: Thursday, March 13, 2025; 1:30-3:00pm ET
D-Term: Wednesday, March 26, 2025; 2:00-3:30pm ET
201: Learn about LGBTQIAP+ history, queer identity in other cultures, and queer liberation. Participants are encouraged to either attend the 101 training or have solid foundational knowledge before attending the 201 training.
ODIME Training Requests
In addition to the LGBTQIAP+ Advocacy Training opportunities, you are welcome to request training from the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education (ODIME). For students, student groups, staff, faculty, and/or administrators requesting programs and services from the office please complete the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education Request Form so the ODIME staff can assist you with your needs. This form also includes club/organization storage and funding, Gompei's closet clothing pantry request, period products, request, and more.
