Professor of Philosophy Roger Gottlieb recently published an essay, Dread, the Demonic, and our Current Situationin the Cambridge CORE blog of the Cambridge University Press. In it he offers a psychological illumination of our common social, ecological, and moral predicament--the rise of fascism and environmental calamity--with the insights of Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard, explaining how we largely ignore or push them aside with distractions.

Professor Gottlieb is the author or editor of 21 books and more than 150 articles. He is internationally known for his work on religious environmentalism, spirituality in an age of environmental crisis, environmental ethics, and the role of religion in a democratic society.
