Department(s):
Mathematical Sciences
The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) elected new members for leadership of activity groups that will serve two-year terms. André Nachbin, Harold J. Gay Professor of Mathematical Sciences, was elected to Vice Chair of the Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures Activity Group. This continues a series of leadership roles of Nachbin, who was previously elected to Program Director of this SIAM Activity Group (serving 2019-2020) and co-chaired the 2022 SIAM Conference of Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures in Bremen, Germany.
From the SIAM activity group for Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures webpage, “This group fosters collaborations among applied mathematicians, physicists, fluid dynamicists, engineers, and biologists in those areas of research related to the theory, development, and use of nonlinear waves and coherent structures. It promotes and facilitates nonlinear waves and coherent structures as an academic discipline; brokers partnerships between academia, industry, and government laboratories; and works with other professional societies to promote nonlinear waves and coherent structures.”
