Professor and Student discussing project board

WPI students have many opportunities to test their ideas in competitions designed to strengthen their skills, introduce them to the wider innovation community, and gain essential funding.

WPI's awards and competitions are excellent practice for fine-tuning ideas and pitches and are valuable activities for innovators and entrepreneurs.

Kalenian Award

Established in 2004, the Kalenian Award is given in honor of Aram Kalenian, inventor and businessman.  Through the generosity of Alba Kalenian, the award is given in memory of her late husband Aram (Class of 1933) and provides seed funds to support and advance the ideas and inventiveness of WPI students, faculty and alumni.

Strage Innovation Award

Established in 2005, the Strage Innovation Award is possible through the generosity of Henry and Alberta Strage. This award helps encourage WPI undergraduate students who are interested in innovation. Students’ ideas are evaluated by a panel of judges and the award helps them move forward on turning new ideas into viable new ventures and products..
