Dearborn Scholarship

The Dearborn Scholarship is funded by the Dearborn Foundation. The Dearborn Foundation offers scholarships to students majoring in physics, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $8,000 per year for Engineering students starting in the 2025-2026 school year (up to $32,000 for four years of undergraduate education). Dearborn Scholarship recipients are individuals with analytical minds capable of independent thinking based on an understanding of natural sciences, especially physics. Scholarship applicants must be someone who could be an innovator, inventor, or designer with a vision for the future.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Scholarship applicants must be someone who could be an innovator, inventor, or designer with a vision for the future. 
  • Majors Include:
    •  Physics
    •  Chemical Engineering
    •  Electrical and Computer Engineering 
    •  Mechanical Engineering
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Students currently attending or accepted to a full accredited college or university

The Dearborn Scholarships has application steps listed below:

  1. Students must complete an initial online application form AND complete a Mechanical Aptitude Test by February 15th
    • Students must submit the online application form using the link on the Dearborn Foundation website: The Dearborn Foundation      Scholarship Requirements
    • Students must take the Mechanical Aptitude Test. This test must be proctored and assesses student's abilities to comprehend fundamental mechanical concepts. Please email Hallie Johnson at hjohnson1@wpi.edu for more information on scheduling a proctored test no later than January 10th, 2025. Please Note: Students should allow two weeks to schedule the Mechanical Aptitude Test
  2. If a student meets the requirements on the Mechanical Aptitude Test, they will then complete a second application form and complete the following three steps no later than March 14, 2025:
    • Send an official transcript to the Dearborn Foundation
    • Have a faculty letter of recommendation sent to the Dearborn Foundation (via mail or email)
    • Take the WOWI Career Assessment Survey
