Student Groups and Organizations

Student involvement drives sustainability on the WPI campus. From the university's first recycling program to our annual fuel-efficient vehicle show, many sustainability initiatives have been direct results of student action. The following organizations give students the opportunity to join a community passionate about bettering the planet and making a difference here on campus or around the world.

Sustainability Student Organizations

Active Minds

The WPI Active Minds chapter brings its national organization’s mission to our campus with the goal of destigmatizing mental illness and providing support for WPI’s students and community.

American Academy for Environmental Engineers and Scientists

The American Academy for Environmental Engineers and Scientists is a community for Environmental Engineers promoting professional development and opportunities. 

Black Student Union

The Black Student Union (BSU) is an organization that allows students of all races to learn about African American culture, lifestyle, and history in an intellectual, social and cultural environment.

WPI Dough Club

The WPI DoughClub is an extension of the DoughBoyz breakfast catering start-up in the Worcester community. The student club works on promoting social justice and sustainability for food insecurity on campus; recent projects include organizing food drives and collaborating with WPI and Thrive to open a food pantry for WPI students and general community members.

Engineers Without Borders

Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA) aims to reach basic human needs and solve challenges through sustainable projects. 

Exploradreams

Exploradreams is a tutoring/mentoring program for elementary and middle school students from the Friendly House in Worcester.

Food Recovery Network

The Food Recovery Network (FRN) brings surplus food to those in need throughout the Worcester area. 

Eco Reps

The Eco Reps increase community engagement with sustainability via campaigns tackling issues such as plastics and food waste on WPI’s campus. For questions and more information about joining the Eco Reps team, email green@wpi.edu

Green Team

The Green Team is focused on increasing sustainability on campus and hosts many events throughout the year, such as the quarterly Free Thrift Store, Project Zero Waste and the E-Waste Drive. 

Greenhouse and Horticulture Club

The Greenhouse and Horticulture Club offers students the opportunity to learn about various flora by caring for the plants in the WPI greenhouse. 

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity at WPI helps students provide others in the global community with adequate housing. 

Outing Club

The Outing Club encourages students to enjoy the outdoors with safe, environmentally friendly activities.
