As a part of WPI's signature global projects program, our undergraduate students make an impact in communities at a variety of world-class project with ties to key Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese regions. Each year, new teams of bright and motivated students travel to these centers to immerse themselves in new cultures, connect with local students, and take on real-world challenges in the critical zone where science and technology meet business needs, social issues, and cultural norms.

Chinese-Speaking Project Centers
As a part of WPI's signature global projects program, our undergraduate students make an impact in communities throughout Asia's Chinese-Speaking Regions. Composed of 4 distinct project centers, located in key regional cities, WPI's students work to immerse themselves in a new culture and make connections with local students. Together, these teams collaborate on overcoming real-world challenges facing Chinese and Taiwanese communities, analyze their socio-political context, and make recommendations for action in line with stakeholder interests.
Students also have the opportunities to travel to Taiwan and satisfy their HUA requirements through a trip abroad analyzing the region's distinct cultural history.
Undergraduate students looking to participate in WPI's signature global projects program also have the opportunity to travel to Japan and cooperate with local Japanese students, businesses, and government organizations. Students working in Japan get to explore a new a vibrant culture, while making connections with Japanese organizations and working alongside them to help solve problems facing the country today. By travelling abroad to Japan, WPI students are provided the unique opportunity of a hands-on experience, helping solve real-world issues while being immersed in Japanese culture
