Expert Bio
Professor Farley Chery studies technical art and areas of experimentation like storytelling, and experimental game mechanics. His research about character rigging, which is the making of a digital skeleton that animators can use to control and animate a 3D object, has led to aspects of his work being used in various games and films such as Epic Games. His work on increasing representation in video game character design, through his project Rigs of Color, contributed to his receipt of funding from the Public Interest Technology University Network. Through this project, he has also enabled his students to be able to professionalize faster by being able to accurately represent the global population. He has been a speaker at the Game Developer's Conference, is an expert in motion capture technology, and experiments with procedural generation and artificial intelligence (AI) as it relates to immersion.
