Expert Bio
Much of Professor Demetry's work pertains to women and girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). She develops and studies programs that broaden notions of STEM and scholarship to include values of service and community engagement. As Director of the Morgan Teaching and Learning Center, she works with faculty colleagues, professional staff, and other units on campus to coordinate programs and services that foster excellence and innovation in teaching and curricular design.
Most recently, Demetry’s teaching efforts have focused on project advising, academic advising, and mentoring. She has advised Interactive Qualifying Projects (IQPs) in WPI’s Global Projects Program alongside students, community partners, and co-advisors at nine locations around the globe, including Thailand, Greece, Australia, China, and Namibia. She has also served as an advisor to first-year students in WPI’s Insight program for more than 20 years
