The Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts in 2024

President Grace J. Wang was named to the annual list which was featured in The Boston Globe Magazine as part of its Women & Power issue. The list was created by The Women’s Edge, a nonprofit that supports female business leaders, and celebrates the state’s leading companies and nonprofit organizations led by women. The group examined 2023 revenue or operating budget as well as other variables and ranked organizations according to its own formula. 

Axios Boston

Governor Maura Healey has appointed President Grace Wang to the state's Artificial Intelligence Strategic Task Force. Wang and 24 others on the panel will make recommendations later this year to leverage AI across the Massachusetts economy to stimulate job creation and advance key sectors. Axios Boston reported on the appointment.

Professor Karen Oates, who directs WPI’s master’s in global health program, spoke with GBH News’ “All Things Considered” about how technology, including artificial intelligence, can be leveraged to address these challenges. Our new degree program will empower students to design innovative, socially responsible solutions that can improve people’s health.

New Hampshire Union Leader

WPI is working with DEKA Research & Development Corp., Spark Academy, and two New Hampshire community colleges on a project to utilize 3D printers to manufacture the Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP), a kit that makes it possible for novice engineers to build and program a simple, powerful, and affordable robot. The goal of this partnership is to put a robot in every classroom in New Hampshire.

 

Innovations Report

Innovations Report covered the results of a WPI study on the removal of urea from wastewater for use in hydrogen production that was recently published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters. The research team was led Xiaowei Teng, James H. Manning Professor of Chemical Engineering.

WCVB-TV 5's "Chronicle" program featured an exhibit from Archives & Special Collections titled "Video Game Console Wars 1976-2001 featuring WPI’s Interactive Media Archive & Interactive Media & Game Development Department.” The show about all things 'fun and games' showcased the exhibit's collection of retro video game consoles, the history of console development, and how Interactive Media & Game Development students are learning to push the industry forward with understanding of the field's foundation.
