Eighty robotics teams representing 11 states and three countries will gather at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) December 5 through 7 for the WAVE at VEX V5 Robotics Competition presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation.
The weekend matchups mark the first middle school and high school competition of the 2024-2025 season to be held at WPI. The VEX V5 is the largest and fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally, with more than 20,000 teams from 50 countries participating in over 1,700 competitions. This season’s game “High Stakes” challenges teams to attain a higher score than the opposing alliance by scoring rings on stakes, placing mobile goals and climbing a ladder at the end of the match.
Among the 80 teams competing is one from Worcester, South Africa, which first visited WPI in June 2023 and continues to be supported by the university. Read more
