Title: Another dose of another introduction to quantum algorithms

Abstract: This will be a continuation of last week’s talk.  Aside from what was covered last week,  I will assume no background in quantum information theory (QIT).  We will again use linear algebra to examine some basic algorithms that show how a quantum computer could conceivably outperform any classical computer. For example, the Deutsch-Jozsa and Bernstein-Vazirani algorithms have simple descriptions and their use of quantum entanglement is evident.  As time permits, we will discuss the quantum Fourier transform (QFT) and phase estimation. The talk contains no original material and is tutorial in nature.
