Title: A Review of Hidden Markov Problems from Cellular Processes
Abstract: In this talk, we will survey some applications of Hidden Markov Models (HMM) and State Space Models (SSM) in the context of microbiological observations. We will pay attention to observations that pertain to cellular and subcellular transport processes. Examples we will see include using HMMs to track and model microtubule dynamics and to estimate bond lifetimes in receptor–ligand complexes. In the end, we will discuss a new direction we are pursuing and some preliminary results.
