WPI Alum Receives 2017 Mexican National Science Award

Biomedical EngineeringDr. Emilio Sacristan Rock recently received the National Science Award for most outstanding Mexican in the area of technology and innovation. This award is the highest recognition granted by Mexico for work in the exact and natural sciences as well as technology and innovation. Dr. Rock led the project to create the first Mexican artificial heart Vitacor UVAD (Universal Ventricular Assist Device) which offers a wider margin of time to determine best patient option; recovery or transplant.
Dr. Rock received his master’s and doctorate in biomedical engineering from WPI.
