On Saturday, April 5, the STEM Education Center at WPI proudly hosted the second annual STEM Education Showcase, bringing together a vibrant community of over 100 PreK-12 educators, community-based organization representatives, and WPI undergraduate Teacher Preparation Program students for a day of sharing, learning, and connecting.

The event featured a wide variety of exciting activities, including: 

  • STEM Share-a-Thon: An exhibit-style showcase of creative STEM from educators and students.

  • Meditation Session: A peaceful opportunity to give intention and grounding to the morning activities.
  • Workshop Sessions: Engaging sessions covered key topics, including integrating artificial intelligence in the classroom, supporting diverse learners, fostering engagement for multilingual students in science, partnerships with families, and lesson plans inspired by the Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) program.

The day concluded with an inspiring keynote, All Students Are Known and Valued: Co-Constructing Learning with Students, presented by Carlene Sherbourne, Ed.D., Education Manager at Worcester Child Development Head Start. The keynote focused on how recognizing and respecting students’ identities, values, experiences, and knowledge can foster classrooms that are places of deep thinking and learning. She highlighted how STEM-centered education offers unique opportunities to authentically connect with students and celebrate the joy of learning and teaching.
