The WPI Disc Golf Club just wrapped up another incredible showing at the Disc Golf Collegiate National Championship

Founded only three years ago, the club has already made its mark—qualifying for nationals every single year since its inception. This year, the championship brought together over 800 competitors from more than 100 schools and three countries, making it the most competitive field yet.

Duncan Farquharson, Blake Burkey, Gareth Mergen, and Ethan Carter, along with their faculty advisor Derren Rosbach, traveled to Rock Hill South Carolina for the event. The tournament spanned four days, three courses, and four rounds of intense play. In the opening singles round, WPI averaged +9 as a team, landing in 36th place overall. Shoutout to Duncan Farquharson, who shot an impressive +2, placing him tied for 21st out of 386 players in his division!

In round two, WPI came out firing—posting the hot round at -14, rocketing the team up to a tie for 11th place. They followed that with a gritty -4 on one of the toughest courses in the lineup, Winthrop Lake, holding strong at a tie for 15th place. And finally, after a hard earned -10 score on the final course, WPI secured a solo 13th place finish out of 92 teams in their division!

At one point in the final round, WPI even found itself in 1st place, shooting a 9 under through the first 10 holes!

This team has accomplished a lot in just three short years. Huge thanks to everyone who supported them along the way. If you like playing or want to learn about disc golf, please contact gr-discgolf@wpi.edu for more information.
