On their first official day in office, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito toured WPI’s Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center on Friday, Jan. 9.
The program’s theme – “Spotlight on Excellence” – illustrated the innovation and creativity at this facility and on the WPI campus. WPI’s goals are aligned with the state’s goal of furthering technology, biotech, and life sciences initiatives.
Following the tour, a panel discussion took place involving WPI President Laurie Leshin; Kevin O’Sullivan, president and CEO, Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives; Robert Johnson, president of Becker College; Michael Collins, Chancellor & Sr. Vice President for Health Sciences, UMass Medical School; Ted Marple, president and CEO, Blue Sky BioServices; and Tim Murray, president and CEO, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
