Save the Date: August 18-21, 2024 New Student Orientation
Department(s):
The First-Year ExperienceWelcome to the Herd!
New Student Orientation (NSO) will begin on Sunday, August 18 and run through Wednesday, August 21. We highly encourage all new students – whether residential, transfer or commuter – to join us for this exciting welcome experience on campus.
Prior to your arrival:
Make sure to follow the checklist on your WPI Onboarding Hub and ensure you’ve completed all the required steps prior to your arrival at WPI.
Various offices and resources will host several information sessions that share more about what it’s like to be a WPI student. Check out the list of these upcoming virtual presentations and recordings here.
To receive safety alerts upon arrival, please consider registering for RAVE Alerts: WPI’s emergency communication system here.
Arriving to Campus:
On August 18, while some students may arrive early due to pre-orientation programs or university activities, most residential students move into their residence halls, and we encourage parents and guardians to participate in the process. (Details for move-in will come to your WPI email from the Housing and Residential Experience Center). Nonresidential students will be able to pick up their Student ID (details about this process will be forthcoming).
All students and families are encouraged to explore the Campus Resource Fair, the Banking and Services Fair and along with other fun opportunities to explore the campus throughout the morning and early afternoon.
In the afternoon, students and their families are welcome to join an ice cream social from 4-5pm. At that time, students and families will have the chance to say goodbyes before students begin their NSO and WPI experience.
New Student Orientation will continue as a student only experience Sunday August 18 after 5pm through Wednesday, August 21. Students will participate in activities that set them up to thrive academically, connect socially with their peers and faculty/staff on campus and understand their resources to achieve success as a WPI student.
Lastly, students and families can find updates and information about WPI New Student Orientation here. We encourage you to check this site for updates throughout July and August.
If you have questions prior to your arrival, please feel free to contact the core planning team for NSO at gr-wpinso@wpi.edu or 508-831-5291 or contact the Welcome Office at welcome@wpi.edu. We look forward to welcoming you in August!
Sincerely,
Christine Ziev
