Dr. Glenn Yee Graduate Student Tuition Award
The WPI Robotics Engineering department will start granting the Dr. Glenn Yee Graduate Student Tuition Award for outstanding RBE PhD and MS students. The award aims to partially cover the tuition expenses (typically 3 credits).
Who Should Apply?
This is a merit-based award. Any outstanding RBE PhD and MS student can apply. The following students are especially encouraged:
- Successful PhD students working on their dissertations and have insufficient direct funding
- Successful PhD students working on their dissertations and who need to extend their period of study
- Successful MS students working on their thesis
Priorities will be given to:
- PhD students who passed their qualifying exams
- Students who already demonstrated their excellence in research in prior research projects (e.g. with publications, successful directed research projects)
- Students with high GPAs
Application Process
The application is a two-stage process. In the first stage, the graduate student should complete the form in the link below.
As the student submits his/her form with the research advisor’s email address, an e-mail will be sent to the advisor for a brief reference statement. Both parts must be completed by the due date for consideration.
Funding is limited, and there will be a review process. We expect the demand for the funds to exceed the available supply. If you do not receive funds in this round, please apply again.
Application deadlines: Please apply by June 1st for Fall semester and Sept. 1st for Spring semester to receive full consideration.

Dr. Glenn Yee Graduate Student Travel Award
The WPI Robotics Engineering department will launch the Graduate Student Travel Award to partially fund RBE graduate student presenters/authors to attend major robotics conferences, in the amount of up to $1,000.
NOTE: We are adhereing to WPI'S Travel Policy.
Who Should Apply?
- RBE graduate student author can apply with a paper accepted in a peer-reviewed robotics-related conference.
- Application to RBE Award Committee should be received at least two months before the time of the conference.
- Presenting authors will receive priority.
- Funds may not be used for networking or collaborative visits that are not associated with conference.
- Funds cannot be used for society memberships.
- A student may apply more than once per academic year.
- There is no limit on the number of graduate students from a research advisor’s group that may apply each year, but this may affect the award decisions.
- If an award is being made, the student will be given up to $1,000 towards covering the travel including conference registration, transportation to the meeting location, and hotel accommodations. (Meals are not covered by the travel award.)
- Since the travel award will provide only partial support in many cases, students are encouraged to apply other sources of funding, such as the travel support from the Dean of Graduate Studies. It is assumed that the research advisor will fund the rest of the costs, if any.
- All expense reports should be turned in to Sharon Kelting within one month of the date of the conference. Any funds not claimed within one month of the conference date will be forfeited.
Application Process
The application is a two-stage process. In the first stage, the graduate student should complete the form in the link below.
As the student submits his/her from with the research advisor’s email address, an e-mail will be sent to the advisor for a brief reference statement. Both parts must be completed by the due date for consideration.
