Secure Programming Camp
Who should attend
This intensive one-week camp is designed for:
- Graduate students and college educators
- Software engineers and related software development roles
- IT and cyber professionals
- Professionals with at least one year of experience coding with a programming language
- Professionals looking to gain an in-depth understanding of secure programming and substantial secure programming skills
What You Will Learn
This one-week (5 hours each day) camp delivers 25 hours of intensive training designed to provide a solid understanding of the principles of secure programming and capability to write secure and robust code for a variety of cases.
In this camp you will:
- Demonstrate how violating principles of secure programming leads to weaknesses in code
- Analyze programs to find weaknesses and vulnerabilities
- Remediate common vulnerabilities in an existing program
- Avoid common vulnerabilities when writing new code
- Employ techniques to prevent common exploits to code
- Apply critical concepts in secure programming
- Use tools to improve code
Learners who complete the camp will receive a “SWEEPS Intermediate Secure and Robust Programming” digital badge that can be added to professional profiles and shared with employers.
Logistics and How to Apply
The camp will be taught online via virtual classroom technology. Students will be expected to attend 5 hours a day during the week of the camp. Camps are taught by Worcester Polytechnic Institute and University of California, Davis and are planned for the following dates (please note that dates may change):
- May 12-16, 2025. 12:00PM-5:30PM Eastern time (9:00AM-2:30PM Pacific Time) with a half hour break. Taught by WPI.
- May 26-30, 2025. 12:00PM-5:30PM Eastern time (9:00AM-2:30PM Pacific Time) with a half hour break. Taught by WPI.
- June 23-27, 2025. 12:00PM-5:30PM Eastern time (9:00AM-2:30PM Pacific Time) with a half hour break. Taught by UCD.
- July 7-11, 2025. 12:00PM-5:30PM Eastern time (9:00AM-2:30PM Pacific Time) with a half hour break. Taught by UCD.
All attendees will receive a full scholarship for the camp so that cost will be $0. Current and former military and first responders will have priority. To apply for the scholarship to attend the camp, click below.
The first review date for these programs will be December 2nd, 2024. Prospective students that apply by that date will get initial consideration.
