Synopsis

On November 3, 2024 at approximately 12:30AM a group of WPI students were walking at the intersection of Institute Rd. and Dean St. when a White Lincoln MKZ sedan bearing NH plate #4943839 pulled along side of them. The occupants of the sedan were described as three Caucasian, college aged, males. The group of WPI students and the occupants of the sedan exchanged words when suddenly the occupants exited the sedan and assaulted a WPI student. The suspects got back in the sedan, and it was last seen driving south on Dean St. towards Highland St. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. WPI and Worcester Police Departments are investigating the incident. 

Suspect Description

Three (3) Caucasian, college aged, males.

Location 30 Dean St Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity
Synopsis

On October 28, 2024, WPI Police responded to 30 Dean St (Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity) for the report of a suspicious male who identified himself as a fraternity member and attempted to enter the fraternity while asking for money. It became known that the person was not a member of the fraternity or a WPI community member and he was asked to leave. The male left without incident on foot and in an unknown direction of travel. WPI Police are investigating. 

Suspect Description

The male was described as a white male, approximately 35-40 years of age, 5'9 wearing a blue hat and black sweatshirt with a picture of a cross on it.

Synopsis

WPI Police received a report of an aggressive panhandler in front of the Hot Table Panini Restaurant.  A suspect approached a WPI student and asked for money. The student was intimidated by the suspect and gave him money. The suspect left the area on foot in an unknown direction. WPI Police and the Worcester Police are investigating this incident.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, of a large build and over six feet tall, wearing a dark blue t-shirt and black pants.

Synopsis

On Wednesday April 10, 2024, at approximately 10:50 PM a WPI student was walking near 101 Highland St. When she witnessed a male on the sidewalk that may have been performing a sexual act. No contact was made between the student and male. The area was checked by the WPI Police and the Worcester Police. The male was located, and the Worcester Police are investigating the incident.

On Thursday 03/28/2024 at approximately 11:00PM a WPI Student was walking on Highland St., to their off-campus residence, when they witnessed a male on the sidewalk near 113 Highland St. performing a sexual act while looking at his phone. No contact was made between the two individuals. The area was checked by Police and the male was not located. WPI and Worcester Police are investigating the incident.

Synopsis

On Monday, March 11, 2024, at approximately 5:55pm, WPI Police received a report from a WPI students that while walking on Highland St. near the intersection of Sever St, a vehicle drove alongside the student and the occupant shot an airsoft pellet gun at the student. The student was hit and did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle continued traveling on Highland St. towards West St. The incident is being investigated by WPI and Worcester Police.

Synopsis

On Friday March 1, 2024 at approximately 9:35pm, WPI Police received a report from two WPI students that while walking on Park Ave at the intersection of Elm St, a vehicle drove alongside them, slowed down and one of the occupants shot an airsoft pellet gun at the students. Both students were hit and did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle continued traveling south on Park Ave in an unknown direction.  The incident is being investigated by WPI and Worcester Police.

Synopsis

A short time ago, WPI Police were notified that earlier this morning, a neighboring university’s student was a passenger in an UberX vehicle. During their transport, the operator engaged in a heated discussion with someone on the phone whereupon the operator produced a handgun and began waving it around the inside of the vehicle. The student terminated their ride and walked back to campus. The vehicle is described as a 2014 Toyota Rav 4, color brown, with a Massachusetts license plate of 8FS525 being operated by a male individual. If you use a ride share service, we strongly recommend not accepting a ride from anyone operating this vehicle. This incident is being investigated by the Worcester Police and neighboring university’s police department.

  • Avoid walking or running alone - instead go walking or jogging with a friend.
  • Try to walk or jog in daylight hours.
  • Always walk in well-lighted areas.
  • Avoid the use of short cuts. Keep to well-travelled roads and populated areas.
  • Choose a route where you can keep away from large bushes or doorways where someone could be lurking. Also vary your route from time to time - don't be predictable.
  • If someone in a vehicle stops and asks you questions, answer from a distance. Do not approach the vehicle or get close enough to be pulled in.
  • If followed, go immediately to an area with lights and people. If needed, turn around and walk in the opposite direction, your follower will also have to reverse directions.
  • Never get into a vehicle with someone you don't know.
  • Keep your cell phone handy at all times. It's your best source of immediate assistance.
