UNIX & Web Development

In this section, you will find information on UNIX account access, commonly used UNIX programs, UNIX file management, and web page development. Personal web pages at WPI are housed in the UNIX accounts, but they may be built through other methods (such as drive mapping).

New to UNIX?

If you are new to UNIX, you might start with the UNIX FAQ. You might also find some of the common commands helpful. For more information, check out the UNIX operating environment.

Building your own web site?

The WPI Web Operations team (a department of Marketing and Communications) builds web sites for the university, including departments, research groups, and other areas. If you have needs in these areas, contact webmaster@wpi.edu.

If you are looking to set up a personal web site in your account, or a club or organization account, you might find the information about personal web site development useful.
