Keeping OS X Up-to-date

Apple frequently releases updates for Macintosh software. The Software Update feature in Mac OS X makes it very easy to determine and get exactly what you need.

Running Software Update

  1. Open the Apple menu, then select Software Update.

  2. Software Update will begin searching for updates automatically. Wait for it to finish generating a list of available updates.

  3. When it has finished, check the boxes next to any updates you wish to install, then click Install.

Note: Some updates need your local administrator password and/or require you to reboot your computer after installation.

Visit the Apple Support site for detailed instructions.
