Education
BA, University of Connecticut 1995
MA, University of New Hampshire 2001
MDiv, Boston University School of Theology 2014

Prior to coming to WPI, I taught Sociology at Clark University (2006-2021) and supervised honors theses, directed studies and independent research projects. Throughout my career, my research interests have centered on examining theological questions of "worth" for professional workers in capitalist societies. In recent years, I have also become interested in how universities might apply principles guiding the slow movement to create more balanced work environments and contribute to individual and collective health and well-being.

I began working part-time at WPI in 2016 teaching Social Research Methods for students completing their interactive qualifying project (IQP) and joined WPI full time in 2021 as an IQP advisor traveling with students to guide them as they complete research projects around the world. I thoroughly enjoy advising and the opportunities it affords to build meaningful relationships with students. Often, I am both humbled and amazed by the personal and professional growth students experience through project based learning and the ways in which on-site research broadens their horizons, fosters cultural understanding, and encourages critical introspection. It is a privilege and honor to engage such work and to walk alongside students throughout their journey at WPI!
