Transcripts & Certifications
Transcript Ordering
WPI has contracted with Parchment to manage transcript orders. All transcript requests should be made online using the instructions below.
Placing Your Order
All students and alumni can submit a transcript request through the WPI Parchment Portal:
- Provide either your WPI ID number or your Social Security Number. Forgot your WPI Student ID?
- You can check the status of your order any time by clicking the "My Orders" link in your Parchment Order Confirmation email.
Once you submit the online form, you will receive email confirmations of your order. If there is a transcript-impacting hold on your account, then your order will be automatically canceled and any payment will be refunded. Please review your email for a cancelation notice to determine the appropriate WPI office to contact to resolve your hold. Once your hold is resolved, then you may resubmit your request via Parchment.
Cost
$10.00 per transcript to be paid by credit card using Parchment.
Delivery Options and Processing Time
Regular Mail: Paper hardcopy transcripts will be processed within 3-5 business days and shipped using USPS.
Secure PDF Orders (student attended WPI in 2008 or later): For students who attended WPI in 2008 or later, electronic PDF transcripts may be received in as little as 2 hours. You will receive notifications of the status of your order.
Secure PDF Orders (student left WPI prior to 2008): For students who left WPI or finished their degree prior to 2008, electronic PDF transcripts must be manually processed from prior digital academic databases and will be released within 3-5 business days. You will receive notification once your order is complete.
Electronic Transcript (PDF) Certificate of Authenticity
WPI has appointed Parchment as the designated agent for processing and sending official electronic transcripts on behalf of WPI. The PDF transcript that is produced using this service contains the identical information as the printed transcript. Parchment has been granted the authority to deliver all such electronic transcript requests on behalf of WPI. If needed, once a student or alumnus has submitted a request, they may access Parchment support online via their Parchment dashboard.
Electronic transcripts are not currently available for students who completed their studies at WPI prior to 2008.
Retrieving Your WPI Student ID Number
Students who have forgotten their WPI Student ID may send a written request to the Office of the Registrar.
We will accept requests via fax to 508-831-5931 or via PDF to registrar@wpi.edu.
In the written request, include your:
- Full name
- Dates of attendance
- A legible copy of a picture ID
- Your signature - Electronic signatures will not be accepted.
- The address, email address, or fax number to which you'd like the Student ID to be sent.
Your request will be processed within three to five business days.
Enrollment Verification
The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) now provides downloadable enrollment certifications for WPI students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Students no longer have to request this information through WPI's Registrar's Office. Students may request this information through the NSC Self-Service Portal.
Items available on the NSC portal:
- Enrollment Certification for current semester
- Enrollment Certification for all semesters reported
- Advanced Registration Certifications (available prior to start of term)
- History of enrollment data submitted to your lenders (includes lender name and date reported)
Note: Official enrollment data is available at the beginning of each term. Prior to the start of the term, only Advanced Registration Certifications are available for download.
Please contact the Registrar's Office (registrar@wpi.edu) with any questions.
The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) provides degree verifications for WPI students to all third-parties (e.g. employers, credential certifiers). The National Student Clearinghouse can be contacted at:
- Web: www.degreeverify.org
- Mail: National Student Clearinghouse, 2300 Dulles Station Boulevard, Suite 300, Herndon, VA 20171
Please contact the Registrar's Office (registrar@wpi.edu) with any questions.
What is an Apostille?
A certification or legalization is generally necessary for documents which leave the United States. Common types of documents which require certification for acceptance into a foreign country include documents for an international adoption, diplomas issued by an American college or university and various types of records and contracts integral to a company which does business in a foreign country. The Apostille is a specific form of authentication for countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961.
WPI will process apostille requests for diplomas and transcripts. We will certify these documents and forward them to the state, who will affix an apostille and mail the documents back to you.
Apostilles and Certifications of Documents - Secretary of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Steps to Certifying a Transcript or Diploma
- Complete the WPI Apostille Request Form
- Have your school registrar certify to the record in the presence of a Notary.
- The Notary Public will then notarize the signature of the school registrar. The notarized school transcript or diploma is then sent to the Secretary of the Commonwealth for the Apostille or Certification.

- That the Notary Public’s expiration date is on the document correctly, clearly and completely.
- The Notary Public has affixed the notary seal on the document and the imprint is legible.
Fees
The fee for an Apostille is $6.00 per document. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the correct amount. Cash is not recommended because the office cannot refund cash lost in transit.
The Secretary of the Commonwealth always recommends that you verify the information needed with the officials from the country of destination.
