A number of scholarship opportunities are available to students who are interested in studying fire protection engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Scholarships for Both Undergraduates and Graduate Students
A. L. Brown Scholarship
The A. L. Brown Scholarship is awarded by the New England Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student from New England (or attending New England institutions) who shows a demonstrated interest in fire protection. Application forms may be obtained from the Center office; current submission deadline is April 19, 2024.
Society of Fire Protection Engineers, Atlanta Chapter, Scholarship
The SFPE Atlanta Chapter University Scholarships are awarded to full-time undergraduate or graduate students obtaining fire protection engineering or engineering technology degrees. Preference is given to candidates who are either from the southeastern United States or who show a desire to relocate to that area after graduation.
Society of Fire Protection Engineering (SFPE) NJ NY Metro Chapters Education Foundation Scholarship
The Society of Fire Protection Engineering (SFPE) NJ NY Metro Chapters Education Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides assistance to individuals interested in the pursuit of careers in Fire Protection Engineering, Life Safety and associated trades. The foundation promotes the education of individuals in these fields of study and employment through continuing education programs and other events intended to promote the interests of the SFPE in the New Jersey and New York Metro areas. Though geared toward assisting students from the NY Metro area, the Foundation regularly makes awards to students outside of this geographic area, so students from around the country are encouraged to apply. https://sfpenjnyfoundation.org/
Scholarships/Fellowships for Graduate Students
Percy Bugbee Fire Protection Engineering Scholarship
This scholarship from the National Fire Protection Association is awarded to a fire protection engineering student who has demonstrated excellence in academic achievement and intent to perform a thesis or graduate project activity aimed at improving fire protection engineering methods.
Gerald L. Maatman Scholarship
Retired Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kemper Group insurance companies, Gerald L. Maatman was also the Fire Protection Engineering department head at Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a distinguished leader in the fire protection engineering and insurance field.
