During the 3rd Annual Electronics Recycling Drive held on April 18 by the Student Green Team and Department of Facilities, 7,312 lbs. of electronics was collected on campus. With a modest improvement over last year’s weight of 7,287 lbs., Liz Tomaszewski, facilities systems manager/sustainability coordinator, says she considers the event a success.
The Student Green Team volunteered to unload trailers and trunk-loads of TVs and old computers brought in by WPI community members throughout the day. “We collected everything from laptops to weed wackers to plotters,” says Tomaszewski. “It was a fun (but cold) day and we had a fairly steady stream of electronics coming our way. Plus the Student Green Team made over $100 in donations for the delivery service.”
