• Are you a student who has recently completed a sustainability-themed project or poster? If so, the Envisioning Sustainable Futures Competition is looking for your poster entry for its 6th annual competition, and encourages all types of sustainability-themed posters and multimedia projects entries from first year, undergraduate, and graduate categories. Students are encouraged to enter the competition as project teams or as individual competitors; a $200 prize will be awarded for each category.
Co-sponsored by the WPI Task Force on Sustainability and the WPI Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program, the event will be held at the Gordon Library on Wednesday, April 16, 2-4pm.
A record number of judges are participating in this year’s event: Nancy Burnham, associate professor, Physics; Kent Rissmiller, associate dean, IGSD and associate professor, Social Science & Policy Studies; Derren Rosbach, assistant teaching professor, Civil & Environmental Engineering; Steven Van Dessel, associate teaching professor, Civil & Environmental Engineering; and Pam Weathers, professor, Biology; and Jeff Solomon, executive vice president and CFO.
Other judges providing a unique perspective to the competition are Steve Bandarra, sustainability coordinator, Worcester State University; Steve Fischer, executive director, Regional Environmental Council; Andrea Gimbel, performance assurance manager, GreenerU; Colin Novick, executive director, Greater Worcester Land Trust; Chris Noonan, senior program manager, Institute for Energy and Sustainability; and WPI alumnus Gary Rosen, city councilor, City of Worcester.
