More than 600 WPI community members in 64 teams will take part in the university's 4th annual Relay for Life on the WPI Quadrangle from 6 p.m. Saturday, April 17, to 10 a.m. Sunday, April 18. The American Cancer Society’s (ACS) signature fundraising activity, Relay for Life is designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs. Teams made up of students and faculty and staff members will camp out and take turns walking or running around the Quad. Each team is asked to have a representative walking around the Quad at all times.
Since the university’s first relay in 2007 (the first among Worcester-area colleges and universities), WPI team members have raised more than $200,000 for the ACS, which is celebrating the 26th anniversary of the Relay for Life this year. WPI hopes to raise $80,000 this year; more than $40,000 has been raised so far.
