WPI robot helps power Hollywood movie "Rule Breakers"

If you see the new movie Rule Breakers, look for a robot developed in 2022 by a student and professor from the robotics engineering program. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported on the student research work that drew movie producers to the program; and ultimately led to WPI's unique contribution to the film about Afghanistan’s first all-female robotics team and its inspiring journey to international competitions.

Inside Higher ED

The Sustainable Career Mentorship Program allows students of all majors to connect with professionals working in green and sustainable jobs and industries for one-on-one meetings to discuss job search advice, internships, resume assistance and more. The program is a partnership across the university including The Global School, the Technology, Policy, and Sustainability Program, the Office of Sustainability, and the Career Development Center. 

The Conversation

An article in The Conversation highlights research done by Stephanie Eccles of Concordia University with Elisabeth Stoddard, associate professor in The Global School. The research focuses on climate-related disasters and their impacts on animals, animal rescues, and animal welfare and the relationship between climate change and animal agriculture.

Associate Professor Elisabeth Stoddard of the Department of Integrative & Global Studies within The Global School spoke with NBC10 as part of their Climate 2022 coverage about the Farm Stay Project Center in Paxton, Massachusetts. Through the partnership with Turn Back Time, WPI students are helping some of the youngest learners get excited about environmental education through the university’s project-based education.

Diversity in Action

WPI’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for an increasingly diverse workforce were highlighted in this Diversity in Action article. “Researchers will teach WPI students how to identify and address bias and work in groups in ways that promote equity,” the article stated.
