WPI robot helps power Hollywood movie "Rule Breakers"

If you see the new movie Rule Breakers, look for a robot developed in 2022 by a student and professor from the robotics engineering program. The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported on the student research work that drew movie producers to the program; and ultimately led to WPI's unique contribution to the film about Afghanistan’s first all-female robotics team and its inspiring journey to international competitions.

The climate-focused site, The Cool Down, reported on research led by Xiaowei Teng, the James H. Manning Professor in Chemical Engineering, to make batteries more efficient by using silicate, with an eye towards potential energy storage. 

 

The Cool Down

Xiaowei Teng, the James H Manning Professor in Chemical Engineering, is leading a team to explore new battery technologies for grid energy storage. Teng hopes the research will lead to improved alkaline iron-air batteries for applications such as microgrids or solar or wind farms.

Innovations Report

Innovations Report covered the results of a WPI study on the removal of urea from wastewater for use in hydrogen production that was recently published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters. The research team was led Xiaowei Teng, James H. Manning Professor of Chemical Engineering.
