The WPI community is warmly invited to the 2025 University Lecture, "Forging the Future: Innovation & Careers with Leaders from Amazon Robotics” on Wednesday, April 9th at 5:00 p.m. This year's event will feature a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Provost Andrew Sears, PhD. Join us for an engaging discussion on the intersection of technology and the future of work.
Why it’s important: Automation & Artificial intelligence (AI) will revolutionize labor dynamics in the coming years, streamlining routine tasks and unlocking human potential for creative and strategic endeavors. Moreover, automation & AI promise to enhance decision-making and transform customer interactions. It’s critical that we understand the potential—both positive and negative—of this evolution. While concerns about job displacement persist, automation presents exciting opportunities for innovation.
This year’s panelists: Two illustrious leaders in the field of robotics will share their unique perspectives on navigating the future workplace.
Scott Dresser BS '89 – Vice President, Amazon Robotics
A WPI graduate with over a decade at Amazon, Scott has played a pivotal role in scaling robotics automation across Amazon's fulfillment centers, deploying over 750,000 robots. A former key player in Kiva Systems' acquisition by Amazon, Scott brings expertise in robotics architecture, product development, and operational strategy. His leadership continues to drive Amazon Robotics' global innovation in automation.
Tye Brady – Chief Technologist, Amazon Robotics
A visionary in autonomous systems with 30+ years of experience, Tye leads advanced technology and research efforts at Amazon Robotics. Recognized as a Boston Globe Technology Power Player (2022-2024) and a NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal recipient, Tye has contributed significantly to the robotics industry through research, patents, and publications. He is also a founding partner of MassRobotics, the world's largest robotics incubator.
