Abstract: Ravens are highly intelligent birds who are naturally attracted to new objects in their environment. However, in Goffstown NH, juvenile ravens have caused damage at Eversource’s new Rimmon substation. Raven activity has repeatability resulted in power outages for up to 10,000 customers. To aid Eversource in limiting avian-related damages, this project aimed to create a bird deterrent robot that will autonomously deter ravens from tampering with equipment. This robot will detect birds using artificial intelligence and deter them using a combination of audio and visual stimuli. The robot will withstand the diverse weather conditions in New England for continual operation.
