Dr. Ray Dunn is a an alumnus of WPI having graduated in 1978 with a degree in chemistry before matriculating in medical school at Albany medical College where he completed his MD in 1982.  Dr. Dunn completed general surgery training at the University Massachusetts in 1987 and plastic surgery training at the Eastern Virginia medical school in 1990.  Dr. Dunn immediately joined the faculty at the University of Massachusetts in plastic surgery in 1990 and also resumed his association with WPI as an adjunct Assistant Professor of biomedical engineering in 1992.

Dr. Dunn served as the Division Chief in plastic surgery at UMass for 20 years from 19 98-2019.  He has been president of the New England Society of plastic and reconstructive surgeons and the northeastern Society of plastic surgeons.  He has served in multiple elected and appointed positions in the American Society of plastic surgeons, the American Society of reconstructive microsurgery, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Dunn is currently Professor of surgery, cell biology and adjunct professor of biomedical engineering at the UMass Chan medical school and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  Dr. Dunn holds in excess of 25 patents issued and pending and has commercialized 3 medical devices and continues to actively work in various areas of biomedical engineering innovation and teaching residents in plastic surgery which he has done for the past 35 years.
