WPI was honored last month by the Publicity Club of New England, during its 46th Annual Bell Ringer Awards Ceremony at the Revere Hotel in Boston. The awards acknowledged the university’s public relations and marketing efforts for the DARPA DRC Trials (Bronze Bell in Creative media campaign category) and the 2013 NFL Draft project (Merit award in News Release category). The plaque is now on display in the Marketing conference room in Boynton Hall.
The Publicity Club of New England is the region’s oldest not-for-profit public relations trade organization, honoring the superior work done by public relations and communications professionals across New England each year. Founded in 1949, it strives to promote and encourage involvement in the communications industry and specifically the professions of public relations, promotions and marketing.
WPI won more awards than any other university in New England.
Representing WPI at the celebration were Executive Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications Eileen Brangan Mell, Public Relations Associate Andy Baron, Interactive Designer AnnMarie Burtt, Executive Director of Marketing Maureen Deiana, and computer science professor Craig Wills (advisor to NFL draft IQP). Brangan Mell said it was exciting to be recognized – especially since the WPI contingent was among some of the most powerful and creative PR and Marketing agencies in New England.
These awards were the result of some great creative thinking and wonderful collaboration and teamwork.
