CONNOR MORETTE – TRACK AND FIELD
Connor Morette of the track and field team has been honored as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 31. Morrette, of Leominster, continued his strong season by capturing the pole vault at this weekend’s Wheaton Invitational. The senior cleared 14-1.25 feet, more than a foot and a half higher than his closest competitor, en route to his fourth consecutive victory this season. Morrette was joined by Jason Beauregard (weight throw), Matt Bennett (shot put), and Brandon Hoghaug (high jump) as field event winners for the Engineers.
PRISCILLA DUNPHY – BASKETBALL
Priscilla Dunphy of the basketball team has been selected as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 31. The Barrington, R.I., junior tossed in a career-high 18 points as WPI equaled the best winning streak in school history with a 54-35 over MIT on Saturday evening. Dunphy canned 8-of-11 shots from the field, grabbed six rebounds, and shared game-high honors with four assists as the Engineers equaled the 1982-83 squad for consecutive victories with 16. Earlier in the week, Dunphy totaled seven points and eight rebounds in a road win at Mount Holyoke.
