Dear WPI Community,

Weather forecasts for the Worcester region are calling for significant snowfall throughout the day tomorrow.  Accordingly, WPI is cancelling all day and evening classes—and scheduled activities—on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. We also ask that all non-essential personnel stay home and off the roads.

Throughout the duration of the storm, essential personnel will be on campus to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and our facilities; employees should check with their supervisors to determine their status.

The Gateway Shuttle and the UMass Shuttle will not be in service Tuesday.

Building Hours:

Rubin Campus Center:  7:00 a.m. – Midnight

Sports and Recreation Center:  6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Gordon Library:  10:00 am – 1:00 a.m.

All other campus buildings will be closed and accessible only to those with after-hours access.

Modified Dining:

Morgan Dining:  Brunch 9:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.; Dinner 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Dunkin Donuts:  9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Campus Center Food Court: 11:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

All other dining facilities will be closed.

Parking Modifications:

Essential employees with valid permits should use the Park Avenue or Gateway garages.  All other employee/commuter parking lots will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, and violators will be ticketed and towed.

The residential surface parking lots will close at 11 pm today, Monday, March 13. Students should park at the Gateway garage and can begin to move their cars immediately. Please be sure to bring your WPI ID to access the garage. Residential parking lots will reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, and students must remove their cars from the Gateway garage by 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Dean Street garage will continue its normal operations for validated parkers, but the top level will be closed to allow for snow removal. Cars on the top level must be moved by 11 p.m. today, Monday March 13; additional parking will be available at the Gateway garage.

As a reminder, during snow emergencies the City of Worcester imposes its own parking restrictions on city streets bordering the campus. Go to http://www.worcesterma.gov/streets/winter-weather/winter-parking.

WPI’s Facilities team will continuously work to clear and maintain walkways and surface areas.  Whenever possible, avoid stairs and ramps; if you do use them, please use handrails for safety.

Should you find yourself in an emergency situation, call WPI Campus Police at 508-831-5555.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
