WPI Athletics Update (Week of December 31st)
Department(s):
Sports & RecreationSpencer Vinson was named to the All-Tournament team as Women’s Basketball held off Roger Williams, 46-42, Monday in the consolation game of the WPI Holiday Tournament in Harrington Auditorium. The Engineers conclude the 2018 portion of their schedule with a 6-5 ledger. Vinson followed up Sunday's 20 point, 14 rebound performance with 18 points, four boards, two assists, two steals and a block. Caitlin Boermeester went 2-3 from the field and 4-4 at the line for eight points while Bailey Savage and Alyssa Paulcombined for 11 of the Crimson and Gray’s 31 rebounds
Garrett Stephenson notched his second consecutive double-double and Jake Wisniewski paced all student-athletes with a career-high 19 points as Men's Basketball closed out an 86-71 triumph over visiting Husson on December 16th in Harrington Auditorium. This past weekend WPI ventured to Florida for the Tampa Bay Shootout where Reid Walker earned All-Tournament honors in his hometown.
Every year, WPI’s Department of Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletics creates a new staff shirt generally reflecting a theme important to the department. This year’s shirt—with a rainbow-hued “WPI” on the front, a white cancer ribbon on the sleeve, and “United We Win” in bold red letters on the back—did double duty. The rainbow colors and cancer ribbon gave a nod to the original intent of cancer awareness, but the design also encompasses another issue paramount to the department: diversity and inclusion. -- Read the full feature here

When we tried to find him to conduct this interview, he wasn’t in his office or on the field—he was snaking between basketball practices and gym classes, helping make repairs to the audio system in Harrington Auditorium. -- Read the full feature here
