Are you curious about the uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies for international development? Join the Small Business Association for International Companies (SBAIC) for a virtual AI Learning Summit on Wednesday, October 9th from 11:00 AM to 1 PM EST.

The event will feature SSPS Department Head Rob Krueger and other leading practitioners, academics, and government representatives sharing information on safe, secure, ethical, and practical uses of AI for international development.

As you may have heard, Krueger is launching a three-year project that will use a branch of AI called machine learning to comb through data collected in three countries by Fundación Paraguaya. Krueger’s goal is to find “clusters” where specific economic activities could be established to benefit individuals and communities.

“It’s important to understand the needs of people in low- and middle-income countries, the resources they possess, and what they say they need to gain self-sufficiency through economic development,” Krueger says. “With AI, we can rapidly parse through large amounts of data to identify opportunities, not just needs.” To learn more about this research and his expertise in the area of AI and international development, visit: https://www.wpi.edu/news/ai-international-development.
