Department(s):
STEM Education Center
The STEM Education Center and a Computer Science faculty member were awarded a $300K grant by the National Science Foundation to establish a research-practice partnership (RPP) that focuses on culturally responsive computational thinking in PreK-5 classrooms. This project is a collaboration among WPI’s Mia Dubosarsky and Gillian Smith, UMass Dartmouth researcher Shakhnoza Kayumova, the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and six MA school districts (Ashburnham-Westminster, Belchertown, Fitchburg, Marlborough, North Brookfield, and Worcester). The partnership will research common problems of practice related to culturally responsive computational thinking and develop a professional development program for PreK-5 teachers.
