Rob Krueger Appointed Interim Head of Social Science & Policy Studies

School of Arts & SciencesProfessor Rob Krueger has been appointed Interim Head of the Department of Social Science & Policy Studies, effective August 1. Dr. Krueger is Professor of Social Sciences and Policy Studies. He has been at WPI for nearly 20 years where he has directed the Worcester Community Project Center, developed WPI’s first BA, Environmental Studies, and has founded two new project centers, Worcester, UK, and the Ghana Project Center. As part of the Ghana Center Krueger established his Development Design Lab, which engages stakeholders in an effort to co-define local problems and co-design solutions that are culturally appropriate and promote self-sufficiency. He served as deputy dean of Arts and Sciences. Krueger has edited two well-received books on sustainable urban development, The Sustainable Development Paradox (2007) and Adventures in Sustainable Urbanism (2019). Most recently he facilitated the development of WPI’s Institute of Science and Technology for Development (InSTeD) and shepherded through WPI’s first new MS degree, Science and Technology for Innovation in Global Development, that draws wide ranging talent from WPI’s four schools. Krueger received his PhD in Human Geography from Clark University in 2001.
