Presidential Search Update: Defining a Model Optimal for WPI
Department(s):
Office of the PresidentThis message was sent to the WPI Community.
It has been gratifying, but not surprising, that so many of you are taking an active interest in learning more about the presidential search—with hundreds of you reading the first story in our series designed to keep everyone informed and engaged as part of our commitment to an inclusive and consultative search process. We look forward to your continued engagement in our shared work to attract the strongest possible candidates to lead this remarkable institution.
In mobilizing for the search, our efforts to reach out across the community have provided a tremendous amount of helpful feedback. We have used this feedback to shape the structure and action plan for the search—our “operating model.” We believe this model (detailed here) is optimal for the WPI community so that we can find the right leader to be our 17th president.
The model reflects input regarding a desire for greater participation by all stakeholders and increased diversity and inclusion throughout the process. It is also responsive to expectations from the community to be appropriately informed as the search progresses and that the search be used as an opportunity to build community.
We want to thank everyone who has participated thus far for their contributions and remind you all to watch for information on further opportunities for community engagement through a slate of open sessions on campus the week of March 28. Invitations will be sent via email and posted on the Presidential Search website, where you can also find a survey to provide your feedback.
Sincerely,
David LaPre, ‘74
WPI Trustee and Chair, Presidential Search Committee
