New Browsing Area Opens in the Gordon Library
Department(s):
George C. Gordon LibraryThe Gordon Library invites the WPI community to visit the Browsery, a comfortable reading and browsing area on the third floor, with rotating featured book collections. This fall, the Browsery is home to two inaugural collections supported by generous donors.
The Strage collection, made possible through the generosity of WPI Professor Henry Strage '54 and his wife Alberta Strage, features books on innovation, creativity in business, and entrepreneurship. Titles for this collection are selected by Gina Betti, Associate Director, WPI Collaborative for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.
"Visualizing across the Disciplines," funded by the Frank and Wilma Berth Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, is a collection of works on visualization, visual and graphic design, and visual literacy and rhetoric. Books were selected for this collection based on the theme of "See Differently/See Profoundly," taking inspiration from visual communication expert Edward Tufte, who said: "The commonality between science and art is in trying to see profoundly--to develop strategies of seeing and showing."
All of the 300 books in the Browsery are available for browsing and borrowing by the WPI community. The Gordon Library also welcomes your comments and suggestions on future areas of development for these collections at colldev@wpi.edu.
