Congratulations to WPI Mechanical Engineering Professors Richard Sisson, Diran Apelian, Danielle Cote, and Diana Lados for their US Army Award, Thermo-mechanical processing of materials by design. This $1.91M funding is an installment for a $24M cooperative agreement with Army Research Lab. This funding will be used to continue work on the computational modeling of Al powder alloys for cold spray consolidation (Cote and Sisson), developing a unique semi-solid process for additive manufacturing (Apelian), and establishing evaluation methods and predictive models for structural properties and performance of cold sprayed materials and repaired components (Lados).
