Get ready to cheer on the home team. FIRST Robotics Team 190, a joint effort between WPI and Mass Academy of Math and Science, has been racking up wins and awards on its way to the FIRST 2025 Championship in Houston April 16-19.
The competition robotics team is currently the top-ranked outfit out of 190 teams in the New England region. One of only 22 teams worldwide to have earned four or more banners this season, Team 190 is currently ranked 66th in the world in statistical models that look at point contribution per match.
Led by captains and Mass Academy seniors Kayla Vallecillo and Sami Wang, the team has received various awards at regional competition for industrial design, autonomy, and creativity. It will compete in Houston against hundreds of other teams from across the globe.
One of the first original and sustaining FIRST Robotics Competition teams, 190 has participated in FIRST every year since 1992. FIRST is the world’s premier organization for high school robotics challenges.
