Department(s):

George C. Gordon Library

Gordon Library's lighting is being replaced this summer on the Library's upper level (third floor).

Modern, sustainable lighting will replace 50+-year old grid lighting, resulting in energy savings and greatly improved lighting in one of the Library's most popular student study areas.

During the summer project, upper level study and meeting spaces will not be accessible to the public, with the exception of the Gordon Conference Room, which will remain available through the summer except for short closures to support repainting. Staff or faculty with summer reservations in the Gordon Conference Room will be notified if their reservations are affected, and the library will work with you to relocate your meeting if possible.

Study spaces on the main level and the library's two lower levels will be unaffected by the upper level project this summer. We hope that future projects will make it possible to replace public lighting on the library's other levels.

The Gordon Library thanks our Facilities Office, and our colleague Nicole Luiz whose planning and support made this project possible, and we thank the WPI community for your patience and understanding as the project gets underway this summer.

Questions about the project or use of Library spaces this summer are welcome, at library@wpi.edu.
