George C. Gordon LibraryThe winter season is often associated with the great British novelist Charles Dickens, famed for his Christmas stories, including the iconic and beloved A Christmas Carol.
It seems fitting therefore, as a winter gift to all scholars, readers, and lovers of Dickens, that WPI Library's Archives & Special Collections announces the completion this month of WPI's years-long effort - Project Boz - a project to digitize all Dickens's novels in their original serial editions.
The last four serial novels are now available to the world through Digital WPI:
- David Copperfield
- A Tale of Two Cities
- The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club ("The Pickwick Papers")
- Martin Chuzzlewit
The serial editions immerse today's reader in Charles Dickens's world - not only through their brilliant and evocative illustrations but also through the carefully reproduced context of advertisements that made these serial editions affordable to a wide audience of adoring readers.
We invite everyone to read a little Dickens as you celebrate the winter holidays with friends and family!
