The Faculty and Staff of Color Reception was held on December 5, 2022 from 4-6:00 pm at the Higgins House and drew close to 60 people in attendance.
Dr. Winston "Wole" Soboyejo (President, ad interim) offered welcome remarks, followed by greetings from Dr. Lauren Turner (Senior Vice President for Talent & Inclusion/ Chief Diversity Officer). Dr. Tony Laing (Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) spoke about one aim of the event, which is to build on the rich community at WPI. Dr. Jean King (Peterson Family Dean of Arts & Science) shared comments on moving toward "Our North Star," followed by a closing and blessing for the season from Rev. Dr. Debora Jackson (Dean of The Business School).
The Faculty and Staff of Color Reception will be held twice a year. The next one will take place in April 2023 and will coincide with the arrival of Dr. Grace Wang (President-elect of WPI). Details on the reception will be shared on the DEIB webpage and sent via email through the WPI community.
