Hello! I’m the Rev. Debora Jackson, the Harry G. Stoddard Professor of Management and Dean of the WPI Business School and I am proud to share with you all the wonderful things we are doing. From our students, to our faculty, and our many upcoming events, you will easily recognize that WPI Means Business!
In the WPI Business School, we demonstrate that business is a force for good and renders positive impact to society. That is why we are so proud of our students who live and embody those beliefs. For example, WPI Business School graduate students Roshni Harish, Ribah Shaikh and Vishwa Solanki teamed up to explore social media’s power to influence our thoughts and impact our mental health and emotional well-being. Then this summer, Data Science student Nathan Willemsen worked with Business School Professor Renata Konrad to research analytics and methods to determine equitable resource allocation for runaway and homeless youth. Additionally, through the Social Media Analytics Lab, WPI Business School Masters in Information Technology student Aameer Shaikh, took a look at queer health.
We are also modeling our entrepreneurial spirit in the Business School. To that end, The Business School's Gompei’s Analytica team is one of four WPI student teams recently accepted into the StartUp Worcester Program. And showing our engagement beyond WPI, two WPI student teams are competing in this year’s Boston University Questrom School of Business Case Competition. This year’s competition will focus on the important topic of sustainability. Evan Rios, Sol Giesso, Jezabel Aponte Figuroa, and Varun Bhat are on Team 1 and Salem Eray Celik, Zhuowen Chen, Sahar Ebrahim Bajgani, Amir Jamali are on Team 2. Go WPI! We are so proud of all that you do. And these accomplishments translate into rankings as QS World University Rankings acknowledges the WPI Business Schools Masters in Operations and Supply Chain Analytics Program as their 39th best supply chain management program in the world!
We are also incredibly proud of our faculty, especially given their tremendous productivity over the summer. Business School faculty distinguished themselves through publications, conference presentations, and research achievements making them some of the most prolific and accomplished scholars at WPI. You can read more about their work and understand the reason for our pride when you review our Faculty Summer Roundup.
